Why Did You Want to Become a Dentist?

While working on staff at the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Dr. Dugas got to know a few of the board members who happened to be dentists. He expressed great interest in the medical field and noticed how they had a rewarding profession while still having the freedom to play music. All of these board members recommended that he consider entering the dental field himself. After his first day shadowing in his family dentist’s office and seeing the joyous impact he had on his patients and staff, he knew dentistry was his future.

After graduating from the University of New Orleans, Dr. Dugas earned his DMD degree from the Lake Eerie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Dental Medicine. He eventually completed his periodontics training at the renowned University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.

Today, he has certifications in Wilckodontics Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics and Pinhole Gum Surgery (a more conservative method of correcting gum recession).
